Alna Kraak – My caregiving journey started in 1987 as a registered nurse at Groote Schuur Hospital’s Oncology Department. Personally, I was also affected by cancer as I had lost my father-in-law and two uncles to the disease. Patient care is my main priority, but my love for people goes beyond patient services.

A family member introduced me to CANSA Relay For Life and I immediately knew that CANSA Relay for Life would always be part of me. I want to create awareness and inspire other cancer patients.

I am passionate about providing support and care for others. I have been able to do this through CANSA Relay For Life Athlone and in my workplace where I am also able to lobby support and resources for the cancer cause.

The CANSA Relay For Life Breederivier was held at the Robertson Showground’s, Western Cape on the 2nd and 3rd of March 2013. Luminaria bags and candles are dedicated to those who have battled or are currently battling cancer during a very emotive Relay For Life Luminaria Ceremony.
