My cancer support group and being around other cancer survivors makes me feel part of something bigger. I am treated as a VIP at our CANSA Relay For Life, Mitchells Plain event and this is my community where I feel welcomed.

It’s with great sadness to announce the passing away of Sister Grace Lyn England on 12 January 2024. She was involved with CANSA for over 30 years as a nurse, leader volunteer and Global Hero of Hope, as part of CANSA Relay For Life. She was also a primary caregiver to her husband and father, who both lost their lives due to cancer.

CANSA Relay For Life has taught me and so many people how to radiate their positive energy and to build on their strengths as both Survivors and Caregivers. I have been inspired and supported by my husband, family, friends and CANSA family whom I thank for walking next to me on my journey and for lifting me over the stumbling blocks. No one is ever prepared for cancer but through acceptance and understanding, we live by the joy of giving because each of us are destined for greater things.

Helping people cope with emotions and assist them in having faith and that this road in front of them can be conquered. This inspired me to be part of CANSA Relay For Life…
