“Cancer made me more positive, caring and overall a better person”

Ardath Datnow

It is such a privilege to know and be associated with Global Hero of Hope Ardath Datnow, or “Ardie” as she is fondly referred to. A gracious, caring, warm and soft – spoken lady. When she enters a room, you experience the calmness that she brings in any given situation.

What an experience to hear her journey with cancer and the many different Survivors she has been involved with, supporting and motivating as best as she could. When Ardath promises to do something, you know that there are no worries. She will deliver what was promised.

It is awesome to experience Ardath doing a prosthesis fitting. She lets the Survivor feel comfortable, special and beautiful. Ardath adds value to that person’s self esteem.

Since the first CANSA Relay For Life started in Kimberley, Ardath attended to everyone! She is a well known face at the Survivor rounds and especially appreciates the Luminaria Ceremony, as she has already seen so many Survivors losing the fight.

Survivors make an effort to walk close to Ardath during the Survivor lap. It just makes absolutely sense that as many people as possible be exposed to the aura that this gentle lady has. She touches lives in a very special way.

Ardath is happily married, and her son excelled in sport. She will however not boast about that, as she experiences it as grace from the Lord. She is an active member of her church, and lives according to biblical principles. She has been involved with yoga for many years and still enjoys it on a daily basis.

Ardath Datnow symbolizes Hope and the willingness to continue the fight against cancer.
