The Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) invites the East Rand community to come together in hope, remembrance and action at the CANSA Relay For Life East Rand event taking place, 9 May 2026, from 16:00 to 22:00 at Woodlands International College, Bartlett, Boksburg.
This special event forms part of CANSA’s 95th anniversary celebrations, marking nearly a century of service, support and advocacy in the fight against cancer in South Africa. Under the inspiring theme ‘Rise Together Against Cancer’, the event will unite cancer survivors, caregivers, families, friends, schools, businesses and community groups in a powerful show of solidarity.

The Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) invites the community of Tshwane and surrounding areas to join the CANSA Relay For Life Pretoria event on 14 & 15 March 2026, from 18:00 until 06:00 the following morning at Tou Trek Park in Rietfontein. It aims to bring together the community in a display of unity and hope in the fight against cancer.

CANSA is pleased to introduce Elza-Marie van Lille as a Relay For Life Global Hero of Hope. What began as a lump discovered while on holiday soon became a life-changing diagnosis, setting Elza-Marie on a journey that would test her strength, faith and resolve in unimaginable ways. Today, living in remission, Elza-Marie continues to inspire others through her positivity and perseverance, reminding everyone affected by cancer that hope is real, support matters, and no one has to walk this journey alone.

As a psychologist who has been diagnosed with cancer, I have walked many individual journeys with my patients, friends and acquaintances diagnosed with cancer. I’ve cried with them when wounds did not heal properly or when chemotherapy became too much, I’ve rejoiced with them when they are in remission, and I’ve cried with them when they became sick again.
