Bethlehem Remembers And Fights Back
After what seemed like a gloomy weather report on 24 February 2017, the community and teams came in droves to attend the CANSA Relay For Life Bethlehem.
Cancer Survivors were invited onto the field for the Survivors Ceremony and walked around the track for their honourary lap. The community of Bethlehem applauded them for their courage and determination.
The Caregivers Lap followed and was just as impactful, as the community thanked them by cheering for the continued care and support they provide for the cancer survivors.
The Luminaria Ceremony was very emotional as everyone held their own personally decorated Luminaria Bag and lit the candles inside the bags. This created a very heartfelt and tender atmosphere as everybody observed a moment of silence to reflect on the lives lost to cancer and those still fighting cancer.
The Fight Back Ceremony was very informative, but the highlight of the event was the Closing Ceremony where the committee chairperson thanked the community, guests, survivors, caregivers and CANSA Relay For Life sponsors for their commitment in the fight against cancer.
